So - here's my first stab at some events I think you will find exciting - if you are lucky enough to be going to Salone del Mobile in Milan (bde clients in red) :
The truth is if you arrive on Tuesday, April 21st - go to Zona Tortona. It's press preview time around 3 p.m. - but they seem to let us all in. My favs are always Tom Dixon, Marcel Wanders...and this year thre is a Temporary Museum for New Design - who knows??? Zona Tortona opens that night for cocktail parties all around - a true Milanese madhouse!
Good day to also check out 10 Corso Como - your room is never ready when you arrive! www.10corsocomo.com.
Again, April 21st - INVITE ONLY: "Barbie Does Design" for Kartell - *** if you want to go - send me an email beth@bdeonline.biz
Corian - Milano Store will have it's event 6:30 p.m. on - via San Nicolao 4
Sparkling: Ecologically Correct - 5:30 on - Invite only - try info@sparkling-now.com
Damn Magazine - "Prophets Penitents" always fun - from 6:30 p.m. on (but you can go during the week too) at Oratorio Della Passione, Piazza Sant' Ambrogio;
Lexus - L Finesse - Crystallised Wind - by Sou Fujimoto - Museo Della Permanente, via Filippo Turati 34 from 6 p.m. on
On April 22nd: I would spend the day at the Fiera Pavilion 12 to start - it's the most insane registration - but gets you right in the mood! This year is Euroluce - and as always, Salone Satellite. I would say spending as much time on the 22nd and half day 23rd is great.
In the evening: One of my favorite people, Harri Koskinen (www.harrikoskinen.com) wil lbe at Galleria Corsoveneziaotto, corso Venezia 8 (near San Babila station) - cocktails from 6 p.m.
There's a Zaha Hadid launch at the aforementioned 10 corso como - not sure if invite only from 6 p.m. on.
Molteni at Corso Europa 2 from 6:30 on is always very nice and the Moroso madness ( I stopped going some time ago - it's a small store and very hot and crowded) from 7 p.m. on at via Pontaccio8/10 - but it goes on all week - so if you are interested - go any day after.
Zanotta will show historical pieces from 7 p.m. on at their shop Piazza del Tricolore 2 - and that should be wonderful.
Artemide showing their new collection at Corso Monteforte 19 from 7 p.m. on - they always have GREAT food!
Panasonic with designs by Fukasawa ( one name like Madonna!) and Patricia Urquiola will be at via San Carpoforo 9 from 7 pm. on
You need to RSVP at studioberg@smith-petersen.com to go see James Irvine, Marc Newsom and Carsten Holler from 7 p.m. on at via G.E. Pestalozzi 4. Always interesting.
Interni is having a bunch of stuff but I'm having trouble reading their invite!
Another mad scene but always "enlightening" ('scuse the pun) Ingo Maurer at Spazio Kirizia- Via Manin 21 from 8 p.m. on "Shine on you crazy diamonds!" - says it all.
And last but never least -Kartell's Dance with Glue Cinderella - 7 p.m. at their flagship store Via C.Porta, 1 Ang. Via Turati....watch for this fun shoe in next week's New York Magazine too! But come on over that night for sure and say hi to Brianna and me!
OK - so that's your first two days! I'm exhausted writing it!
Some more restaurants to consider:
Fashionista go to Trattoria Delle Langhe, Corso Como 6 #02- 6554279
In Brera - try: 13 Giugno - www.ristorante13giugno.it - I hear the food is A M A Z I N G! From a Milanese yet!
